Air conditioner

So I tried to figure out how to replace my old ass air conditioner ever since it was hotter than hell last summer and when I turned it on, a cloud of dust flew out. I asked my neighbor who reminds me of my grandmother. She's got a tiny 1200 BTU air conditioner sitting in the wall where a 15,000 BTU unit used to be. She tried to help by putting me in touch with another neighbor, Maria. Maria's husband removed grandma's old A/C so he can certainly help me remove mine. However, every time I asked Maria about it, she sounded willing but the temperature rose with each passing day and nothing got done. Of course, I wasn't going to start bitching and moaning. I've never lived in a house with A/C before so I'm used to the heat and it's not a paid job so I'm really at the mercy of their spare time. Well, after nearly 3 months of waiting, it was either return the A/C to Lowe's or hire someone. I tried A/C contractors but they said it's too small of a job. I finally found a handyman and he made it look effortless. I'm out $200 but now my house is nice and cool.
I think it's unfair that Q calls this her blog, I mean what about all the other contributers who work hard at their post and publish it. I just feel like the milk has hit the fan with this one ;) I have no idea why I'm posting, I'm just a little mad right now and I need a place to vent but really im talking to myself while im posting this which doesn't make sense maybe I should go rant in FW? Hmmmm

Mythbusters

Summary:
  • Two hammers striking each other on the head will not break.
  • It is plausible to fire a bullet into the cylinder of another gun.
  • It is impossible to fire a bullet through a sniper's rifle scope and hit him in the eye.
  • It is plausible for two bullets fired directly at each other to fuse in mid-air.

Resident Evil 4

Last night, I died once cuz I wasn't fast enough on the buttons to dodge a zombie swinging an axe. That makes a total of 6 deaths so far. The other times were from dodging a runaway boulder and playing 1 vs. 100 in the first town. The part that really bothers me is that Leon never seems to do what I need him to do before it's too late and so the zombie takes a hack at me. What really pisses me off is when I run up to a dazed zombie to finish it off and instead, I end up in its arms about to get bitten.

Rainy Days

I will never get used to the rain here. Today was "rainy" which meant I needed my wipers on... that is - on intermittent, level 1. OOOooooooooOOOoooo. Look out. Several drops of water ahead. Please consider using your wipers.

I miss "real" rain. Thunderstorms. Humidity. Power outages.

Nobody really wants to scavenge for a candle and match out of necessity. And yet, I'm wistful. I miss using a rainy, powerless day as a good excuse to curl up with a good book on the porch swing at Mom's. I miss the excuse to swing with my eyes closed and just listen to the low rumble of thunder and the pop-crack of lightening. I miss the heavy smell of the storm. The warm-cool breeze.

I miss home, I think. I wish I had appreciated it sooner.

Rainbow Theory

I thought I would start my first blog post ever by sharing my Rainbow Theory.

Did you ever really wonder how rainbows are made? And not all that water droplet/atmospheric diffraction nonsense either.

Rainbows are made when you put stuffed animals on the dash or rear deck of your car. You know how they all turn white over time. That's because all the color molecules are knocked loose over time by the sun. Being lighter than air they escape each time you open your door or window, collect up in the sky and form rainbows when atmospheric conditions are right.

Now you know.

She stinks

Okay, so I don't go to all of the HOA meetings. Mainly, because it's usually about cronies meddling in other people's affairs or complaining about one small thing after another. Tonight, a property manager attended the meeting to dispute the fines against his tenant for prohibited items on the balcony and for not picking up after her dog. As I'm listening to the case, her neighbors are also complaining about the smoking and the late-night partying. That's when I realized, I know this girl! She's the one who smokes pot. She said she would invite me over to party like it's 1999 but she never did.

Sweet dreams are made of donuts?

Lately, when I am asleep, I am having recurring dreams about my old high school, donuts, and a female friend from high school. In my first dream, I was at my old high school and running from one class to the next. In another dream, someone broke into my gym locker and stole all my stuff. I panicked when I realized that I was only wearing a towel. Last night, I dreamed that I was riding an ATV at my high school because the size of the campus was enormous (or maybe I was really small). When I woke up and went back to sleep, I was at a donut shop. I remember looking at the donut display, ordering donuts and eating a donut. I think my female friend from high school was there but I don't remember much after that.

Catching up with "Heroes"

Monday night has one too many television shows that I want to watch. There's "Prison Break", "24", and "Heroes". Since "24" and "Heroes" are on at the same time, something has to give. So I watch "Prison Break" and "24" and also record them as backup. But what about "Heroes"? I've missed the last 4 episodes of "Heroes" and it's okay cuz I just watched them at NBC.com. The story makes more sense to me when I watch them consecutively. I guess that's because I used to flip between "24" and "Heroes". Consequently, I had a hard time following what was going on.

Yesterday...

The highlight of yesterday was going out for fish tacos at lunchtime and winning $5 out of the $355 million lottery jackpot. I seem to be in a rut lately. Yesterday, I felt kinda depressed. There's no clear direction about what I'm supposed to be doing at work and I don't feel motivated to do anything, except check FW. However, my friends aren't around much so even FW brings little satisfaction. I'm bored, frustrated, and trying to keep from snapping at someone. I wonder, what do other people do when they feel like this?

A couple of things..

First off I'd like to say that I am whole heartly against animal slaughter. Especially cows, they protect our lands (uhuh) they are an active part of our eco-system (uhuh) and they have spots. Yet grilling up a steak sounds nice, so I'm taking all that back. :)

I'd also like to add the fact that Turbo Tax SUCKS. The free version that is, I've been waiting a long time to do my return and my retard accountant cancelled on me till the 17th! I want my LCD HDTV !!!! lol Although I should save it for tuition... what do I do?

Post on FWOT :)
Rainbow text to annoy the readers :)

Tax time

Well I cross-referenced Taxcut with the CA FTB and the tax refund amounts match. But I was confused with the CA income adjustment amount. I thought it wanted me to include the federal taxable interest amount. So I double-checked with Schedule 540CA and I'm not supposed to include that. Anyways, it's all good now. I think I got hung up on the same thing last year. Even though TaxCut includes state, I'm going to use the FTB site to eFile for free.

What rhymes with orange? Smorange.

Today I packed a big orange in my sack lunch. A big orange is either sweet or bitter. There is no in-between. Usually, oranges that big are overripe. Some of the orange flesh has dried up and it tastes bad. My orange was like that. I have two more oranges in the fridge which are probably bad too.

Early to bed...

Last night, I went to bed early for the first time in a long time. I could have gone to bed at 9pm but I stayed up until 10pm. I usually go to sleep between midnight and 1am. Sometimes I stay up until 1:30am or 2am and I can barely stay awake at work. Although I got out of bed several times during the night, I felt quite refreshed the next morning. As the day worn on, I still needed to drink a can of Pepsi though. I guess I didn't have enough work to keep me busy today. Well, tomorrow is the start of my 4-day weekend. Woot!

Teaching an old dog new tricks?

How many times do you have to teach someone how to do something before they will know how to do it themselves? One of my co-workers keeps asking me the same questions about how to edit a web page. I already gave her a full hands-on tutorial. Yet each time, I have to explain using a step-by-step process and she won't try anything on her own because she's afraid of messing things up. Copying and pasting folders isn't rocket science. After I explain the basics to someone, I expect that person to run with it. I don't like wet-nursing sandbaggers.

My first post

Hello world! This is my first blog post. I hope to post more when I have more free time. Until then, see you in cyberspace!
